BIG IDEA.
In 2006, Tal Winter and Kate Cutler were two best friends who had always believed that inner and outer beauty were connected, and that hydration was the foundation of both. But they quickly realized what was one of the most important environmental and health issues of their time: the many implications of single-use plastics. They made the decision to ditch single-use plastic water bottles, but they were fundamentally unhappy with the reusable metal and plastic options. In 2007, the friends committed to solving the problem and worked on a solution at night, on weekends, and in every free moment.
BKR. In 2011, Tal and Kate launched BKR with one central idea in mind: Beauty 101: drinking water is the foundation for soft, dewy, beautiful skin—and hydration shouldn’t be this hard. A clean, addictive, cult favorite, the original tiny-mouth glass bottle was eco-friendly and sustainable at its core, but it also made drinking water blissfully easy for a change, and people started to take notice. The growing obsession with the cute little bottle meant people were finally getting truly hydrated, and looking and feeling better as a result. And as they say, the rest is history.
