What are water-based perfumes?

Perfumes are typically made up of an oily fragrance concentrate mixed with alcohol. With MANE’s Aquafine™ technology, the alcohol is replaced with water. Water and oil don’t usually mix. To make them compatible, a form of binder, called a surfactant, is added.

However, the ingredients list lists "alcohol". Why is that?

Perfumes usually consist of perfume concentrate diluted in ethanol. In VELVETVELO this alcohol is replaced by water. The concentrate consists of natural ingredients or molecules, some of which have a chemical function known as alcohol, as their names suggest. However, it is not alcohol - ethanol - in the usual sense of the word.

What are the benefits of water-based perfume?

The water base does not irritate ​or dry out the skin ​unlike alcohol, so it respects the skin's microflora. While alcohol has a photosensitizing effect on the skin, water does not. Choosing a water base means choosing the skin's integrity. The hair can also be perfumed without damaging the fibers.
