Attack the sun, remove it from the world, create eternal darkness—what a scandalous proposition! But Donatien Alphonse François, Marquis De Sade, was a scandalous man. He played many roles: writer, revolutionary, philosopher, libertine. He disregarded social norms and demanded unlimited freedom. He questioned every assumption about love, beauty and violence, ignored taboos. He wanted to attack the sun and set the world on fire, to free people from judgment, to destroy the barriers that keep people from accepting their own desires. We identify with him because we try to do the same. That is why Etat Libre d'Orange decided to celebrate a man who celebrated extremes. We invited Marquis de Sade to join our family of scandalous fragrances. He accepted with pleasure… and maybe a little pain. Etat Libre d'Orange and Marquis de Sade. It's a marriage made in heaven, or possibly hell... Either way, it works. Together, we plot an attack on the sun.
